I did:
unpacked SMS64.Native.CD-1.6.5-Install and SMS64.Native.CD-1.6.5-Extra
using UltraISO under Windows to 8Gb Flash disk, ran usbboot.bat. OK.
I boot from this flash and did as described in manual.
On the step when I was asked PACKAGES SERIES SELECTION there was only ONE choice "Base Linux system" (No Various application... NO Program development....-thous strings were not in list) And when I then selected Install everything (1.2 GB of software... It was like this: System for about 2-3 SECONDS did some installation (?) reported me "System configuration and insta is complete. You may EXIT setup and reboot....
So it did not installed. Nothing changed.
What may be wrong?
(Tested on netbook samsung n145 AND another fanless motherboard with intel DN2800MT also. LiveCD version - loads OK). |

I'll add a extra menu for USB, to auto find directory, as it will cause problems.
For now to install SMS just do.
1. Before running "setup", run "blkid" and locate your USB flash disk, usually it's on /dev/sda1.
2. In "select Source media" choose "Install from a hard drive partition".
3. Enter your device of your USB, and in next window enter "/", for the path of slackware directory.
You should see all packages now.

Ok,
I started blkid, It found my USB Flash on /dev/sdb1, I input this path in "Install from hard drive" , then "/", and all options appear! Great!))
But, system still does not install.
It going like described below:
For some SECONDS appears window with " Installing all software packages without promting" and then about immediately appears window "System configuration and insta is complete. You may EXIT setup and reboot...."
And nothing I got)) |

SMS installed successfully with that new initrd.img!
When rebooting after successfull installation system thinks for about 2 minutes
on strigs
... 'Triggering udev events /sbin/udevadm trigger --type=failed'
... 'timeout of 120 seconds reached.....
and then loads OK. Is it normal?
Problem solved.

I thank you for the bug report...
That delay usually happen in laptops, mostly probing USB bus e.t.c.
Especially if you have a wireless mouse, try to remove the receiver.

I've hit the same problem, but with a bit of a variation.
I set up a 2 GB flash drive, with both the native install and the native extra iso's dumped to it. It boots without problems with the original initrd, and I then hit the same problem with installation - if I use the install from a hard drive, enter /dev/sdb1, then / for location, all the options appear, but the 'install' takes only a few seconds, and doesn't do anything at all to the selected install partition.
I downloaded the alternative initrd and copied it over the original. I then start the boot (no parameters, just hit enter at the prompt). The boot proceeds for a while, then I get this:

From that point, the power switch is the only thing that does anything.
This was to be a trial installation to my laptop (Lenovo T61, core2duo 2 GHZ, 3 GB of RAM. It has a number of different Linux installations, so I was going to replace an old Vector Linux install for SMS 165.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

 Thanks. I didn't read closely enough - hadn't noticed that the original was all for the 64-bit version. The machine I'm installing on is 64-bit capable, but I don't think there is much point in using 64-bit with it, so I was trying to install the 32-bit version.
With the new initr the install was fine. All working now.
The machine is mainly intended to be a NAS, installed on an HP Proliant Miniserver with 4 2 TB drives. Now all I have to do is set up NFS and Samba....
