|
|
In KDE desktop, Menu>...>SAMBA tools do NOT show options for smb2 protocol which was implemented in SAMBA version3.6+. SMB2 allows ALL xPads,xPhones, games, entertainment, NAS, LAN devices which talk to Microsoft/Apple to now talk to SAMBA Linux (until 3.6+, this protocol was sorely missing as a supported feature.)
Is the SMB2 protocol set as default in your implementation of SAMBA?
Or is the user expected to understand and know they have to manually do this? (SMB2 has been field tested for over a year and has been "blessed" operationAL with 3.60+.= totaling 18+ months SMB2 support) The original SAMBA.org site did have a caution, but, we have seen no issues related to operational use with smb2.
Here to help _________________ We are all related ... |

KDE is 3.5.10 and by that time SMB2 option was not available, so that's normal.
You can use webmin, or swat to configure samba from GUI.
If you know your way around samba you can edit /etc/samba/smb.conf
default is set at
max protocol = SMB2
but you need to switch to security = user for SMB2 to work, SMB2 not working with guest mode.
